Preparation of technical specifications/technical requirements for metal structures.
- Requirements for corrosion protection of metal structures:

- requirements for personnel qualification according to Standard ISO 12944-7:2017, Art. 4.1;
- reference to the environmental corrosivity grade according to Standard ISO 12944-2:2017;
- durability (not guarantee) of corrosion protection coating according to Standard ISO 12944-1:2017, Art. 5.5;
- reference to the specific metal construction coating system according to Standard ISO 12944-5:2017, Annex C;
- reference to the specific metal construction coating system according to Standard ISO 12944-5:2017, Annex C;

- Requirements for preparation of metal structure surfaces before painting:
- reference to the cleaning grade of welds, edge treatment, preparation of voids and other parts of metal structures before painting, EN ISO 8501-3:2007, Art. 4;
- reference to the blast-cleaning grade of metal structure surfaces before painting, EN ISO 8501-1:2007, Art. 3;
- determining the required surface roughness before painting, ISO 8503:2012 (comparators);
- determining the permissible dust and salt level on the surface prepared for painting. Dust content according to Standard ISO 8502-3:2017, salt content according to Standard ISO 8502-6:2006;
- Requirements for execution of surface paint work according to Standards ISO 12944-7:2017, Art. 5, ISO 2808:2019 (wet film thickness), ISO 8502-4:2017(climatic conditions);
- Drafting of surface preparation and paint work inspection plan:
- Assessment of qualification of the personnel directly involved in metal surface preparation work, paint work and surface inspection;
- assessment of cleanliness grade of welds, edges, voids and other structure elements according to Standard ISO 8501-1:2007 and ISO 8501-3:2007;
- assessment of metal structure roughness degree using surface comparators or other specialised, certified instruments according to standard ISO 8503-1:2012 (grit) and ISO 8503-2:2012 (shot);
- assessment of degreasing, dust elimination and salt content on the surface of metal structures. Assessment is made using special tests and using certified equipment. Dust content on a prepared surface according to Standard ISO 8502-3:2017, salt content on a prepared surface according to ISO 8502-6:2006;
- assessment of climatic conditions before and during paint work using certified equipment, ISO 8502-4:2017 (climatic conditions);
- compliance of paint materials with the manufacturer’s technical instructions. Assessment can only be made during paint work;
- determining nominal dry film thickness (NDFT) of the coating using certified equipment according to Standard ISO 19840:2012;
- Inspection using the destructive control method (PIG, adhesion test).
- Preparing reports on the preparation quality of the surface of metal structures;
- Inspection and assessment of the surface coating degradation of the existing metal structures (for structures to be renovated) to evaluate measures required for restoring the corrosion protection coating.
